MyDbExplorer is a windows desktop application that can connect to virtually any relational database backend. Written as a framework, MyDbExplorer supports plugin architecture. Any developer can extend MyDbExplorer's functionality to connect to new databases using its public APIs. It is a database frontend client tool and currently can connect to Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, IBM DB2, MySQL, Microsoft Access databases AND SQLite. MyDbExplorer can also act as a database explorer, exposing various schema objects like Tables, Views, Stored Procedures, Triggers and user-defined functions. MyDbExplorer supports opening of multiple SQL execution windows (tabs) per connection and can open multiple connections simultaneously to different types of databases. It has builtin capability to do schema comparisons across different databases. If you need to migrate your data from one database to another or consolidate multiple databases (may of different types) into a single database, MyDbExplorer can definitely be the tool you can use. Data Migration and/or Data Consolidation are features built directly into the framework and thus work across all different types of supported plugins. Currently, the following plugins are available:
Microsoft Access
Microsoft SQL Server
MySQL Server
Oracle
IBM DB2
SQLite
Firebird
Oracle Berkley DB
MyDbExplorer lets you save all your connections information. Next time, when you launch MyDbExplorer, you can open ALL of those connections, saving you enormous time from re-entering all the connection information. This feature can be a big productivity booster for those needing to open many connections to a variety of databases most of the time.
