The AlbumPlayer is a jukebox kind of music player. Where most music software stops at organizing tracks, the AlbumPlayer has attention for the album. This is most natural since artists offer their music on the market organised as albums already for many years. The AlbumPlayer runs on PC which is still the best platform to organise large music collections but in combination with a touch screen, offers the same convenient type of interface as we are used from modern mobile devices.
Most important new features introduced in V5.3 are:
- Video support to add Music Clips to your artist collection
- Automatic retrieval of artist art from Last.fm
- Support for Remote Control from Mobile Devices
- Full Unicode support
The AlbumPlayer is in particular intended for a touch screen but not limited to that. With several skin choices there is always an interface that suits the user.
Albums can be show in neutral frames but also as CD-boxes, people recording their vinyl collection to PC can show the album as vinyl sleeve too. With the introduction of V5.3, movie frames are added to easily distinguish music clips from regular audio.
The automatic retrieval of artist art from Last.fm makes it easy to collect images for the artist. Together with album type indication and the proper frames you get a well organised artist collection overview.
All collected artist art is also a base for the slide show feature which will make the screen alive when music is playing and the screen is not touched.
The AlbumPlayer is an interesting subject for people who want more then what common music applications like iTunes or WMP has to offer. The AlbumPlayer combines an attractive interface with highest possible audio quality when ASIO is used. The Auto DJ function makes it easy just to play music randomly from your database based on user criteria. The Party Mode takes care that all editing functions are hidden for the party visitors.
